Lewiston Police have identified a person of interest. Authorities in Lewiston, Maine, said at least 18 people were killed in a mass shooting Wednesday night. Thirteen more are injured.

President Joe Biden is praying for the injured and offering condolences over the deaths in Maine, according to White House National Security Secretary John Kirby.
Kirby argued that the Safe Communities Act, which was just passed by Vice President Biden, was a start, but not enough, and encouraged Congress to take further action to outlaw semi-automatic rifles, Which he described as a weapon of war on public property. The Safe Communities Act addressed the so-called firearms loophole, improved background checks for anyone under the age of 21 wishing to purchase a gun from authorized dealers, and provided incentives for states to enact red flag rules. When he signed the bill, Biden acknowledged that it was not perfect but that it was a start.
As directed by Biden, flags will be flown at half-staff in memory of the Maine victims.
